Chateauguay-Bassin, 1929, Eugène Côté, black smith, designs its first snowplow. It was fabricated in wood and covered with sheet metal. Also, Eugène was a dealer for Imperial Gas.

In 1942, Wilrose Côté, President founder of W. Côté & Fils Ltée works with his uncle Eugène as a welder-assembler. At the time, the company specialized only in the fabrication of "V" snowplow and side wings.

In 1950, Wilrose Côté, quits working for his uncle Eugène and starts its own business. He purchases a truck and a welding machine for general repairs and the maintenance of snowplow equipment's for a few contractors. Also, during the same years, the fabrication of snowplows begins.

In April 1957, he takes over the complete succession of his uncle Eugène Côté such as the fabrication tools and all the snowplows in inventory.

In 1961, his brother Daniel, a sub-contractor for the City of Montreal, asked Wilrose to conceive a snowplow equipped with springs which could hit a men hole without damaging the snowplow or the truck.
As early 1961, the first snowplow with springs appears on the market. It was oriented manually and it could be adjusted to clear the snow directly to the front or each side.
